1. ABYS believes that the best way to improve as a coach is to take the Mass Youth Soccer coaching courses. ABYS will pay for any course taken through the E course and will subsidize any advanced courses taken. All courses will be held at Blanchard Memorial School Gym on Route 111 in Boxborough. ABYS is proud and pleased to cover the fees for these courses given investment in our parent / coaches.

2) Pre-season coach’s clinic

Because of the success of last season’s session, ABYS will again be offering a pre-season coaches clinic on Wednesday, April 2 from 7-9PM at Teamworks in Acton. This will be given by the new MLS professional development officer, Tim Hallet. He will answer any questions and provide games and drills for the season as well as offer age appropriate guidelines. 3) Professional development officer, Tim Hallet, will be available to coach a practice session for your team. Tim ran the futsol program this winter for ABYS and has a wealth of soccer knowledge and experience. His sessions are lively and fun and very informative and the kids really enjoy having a professional coach. To sign up, please e-mail Dara Duhamel at daraduhamel@comcast.net.

4) Mass Youth Soccer has just published a statewide curriculum for players U6-U12. This is an excellent resource for all coaches. Find it at http://www.mayouthsoccer.org/download/273_statewide_curriculum_u6_u12_2.pdf

5) Videos, DVDs, and books

ABYS has a fairly extensive library of books and videos available for coaches at the Acton Memorial Library. Its worth checking out. If you have a recommendation of something to add to the library or any material that you would like to donate please contact Dara Duhamel at daraduhamel@comcast.net.
